UIL Academics will be hosting a Journalism only UIL meet on March 8th, starting at 9 A.M. in the Library and Computer Lab.

Twenty schools, including both small (3A and 4A) and large (5A and 6A) schools, will be participating in the meet with the number of competitors ranging from forty-five to seventy. Medals will be given out to first place through sixth place along with Overall Large School and Overall Small School winners.

“Last year was my first year in UIL Journalism and I was the alternate for each event,” junior Courtney Eeds said. “But this year, I am in the top three to compete in district for News, Feature, and Headline Writing. I would say I have come a long way.”

The District meet will be on Tuesday, March 21. After district, the top three compete at regionals, and going on from regionals is state.

“We have so many people on the team that are really good at what they do.” Eeds said. “They’ve all given me tips and have helped me get to where I am now.”
