With Halloween around the corner, spooky movies are a tradition for many. Here are ten Halloween films you should watch.

10. Casper: The friendly ghost Caspar haunts a mansion gets involved in a complicated relationship with the new owners daughter. With pop culture references not making up the bulk of the comedy, they really give this Halloween film character even for a kids movie.

9.Corpse Bride: Victor and his fiance Victoria plan to be married only for Victor to end up in the land of the dead. Now he must find a way back to the land of the living. Tim Burton’s strong suite has always been animation and this film is no different with beautiful visuals and a great story to match.

8.The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad: Two animated shorts based on classic short stories put together into one movie “The Wind in the Willows” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow short film is a good example of an adaptation done right, though it is not an entire word for word copy of the story itself. It follows the same premise but with more cartoony vibes and songs to go with it.

7.Ghost Adventures: Zak Bagans, Nick Groff, and Aaron Goodwin, three paranormal investigators set out to investigate the paranormal from dusk until dawn. The show may not be perfect for some and weather the paranormal exist or not is up for debate. The show’s greatest strength is the comedy factor. The theme of it being dark, gride, and edgy for me perfectly contradicts the goofy things the cast does on each episode.

6.The Goosebumps TV show: Based on the stories by children writer R.L. Stine, each episode has a different story to tell. Child or not, there is always something in this show for everyone to enjoy weather it be nostalgia, when you have nothing to watch, or you are having a Halloween movie night.

5.It’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown: This short film mostly revolves around a Halloween figure called “The Great Pumpkin”. With their being no specific plot, the film relies on the catchy and memorable score and characters.

4.Monster House: Three kids find it hard to convince the adults around them that their neighbors home might be alive. The films unique plot really gives this film a bit of an edge compared to most Halloween movies.

3.BeetleJuice: a couple dies in a car crash find themselves haunting their home. With a family moving in, they receive “help” from a spirit named Beetlejuice. Tim Burton’s style has a spectacularly weird way of combining body horror with this cartoon and morbid style only made better with great acting and set design.

2. Ghostbusters: What happens when a team of scientists lose their job? They put their resources together to do the next best thing, bust some ghosts! This film really makes ghost seem less scary with an all star cast, legendary score, and unique story to many.

1.Caroline: The main protagonist Caroline Jones discovers a hidden door in her

new home that leads to another world of her own. Films like this are definitely something to be appreciated, not just for it’s beautiful visuals and score, but for it’s nuanced approach to scare kids on Halloween night.
