The graduation ceremony for the class of 2021 takes place at Wildcat Stadium on Friday, May 28th at 8:30pm.
“We will not have a practice where they come out to the field,” Dean Julie Fowler said. “What we are going to do instead is have a mandatory meeting in the auditorium on May 24th. That’s going to be an advisory day right before finals.”
The graduates that do not attend the meeting will not participate in the graduation ceremony. The map of assigned seating will be shared through the graduates school email.
“Last year I was extremely disappointed that I didn’t get to watch my sister graduate,” junior Janine Hemphill said. “I am very excited to watch some of my closest friends graduate without having the stress of not being able to to get into the stadium.”
The stadium gates will open to the public at 7:00pm and there will be no ticket required for entry. All seating will be based on a first-come standard and designated handicapped parking and seats will be available on both the home and visitor side of the stadium.
“I am so glad that the school has planned an almost COVID free graduation,” senior Alivia Caples said. “Having the ceremony in person is much better than a virtual graduation.”
Graduates should be dropped off at the field house no later than 7:15pm. Graduates should not bring any personal items in the field house, this includes masks. Staff members will be providing a mask that must be worn inside the field house until everyone is released to the field. Even though social distancing and masks are highly encouraged, it is ultimately up to the guests if they would like to wear a mask during the ceremony.
